Manas Kumar is a professional violinist based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. Having inculcated musical instincts from the age of five, he received his initial violin education from his father, Shree G Chaumua. At the age of 11, he underwent intensive training for the next 13 years under the tutelage of Pt Bidyut Misra, a violin lecturer from State College of Music, Assam. He was also guided by Dr V Balaji, professor of music at Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Manas is also excellent at academics, securing a degree in Physics with a Master of Music diploma from Bhatkhande University, Lucknow. Manas is a proud recipient of the Surmani title by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai, in 2008. He has been awarded the first prize at the Pt VD Paluskar Music competition in 2007. He has secured the prestigious senior scholarships presented by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, Government of India. Manas has enthralled audiences from around the globe. He is an ‘A’ grade performing artist by All India Radio. He has played at various music festivals and conferences like Sankat Mochan fest (Varanasi), Haridas Sammelan, Raag Kaal Festival, and Arohi Music Festival. He has rendered recitals for many popular TV shows. He is the co-founder of a classical fusion band called Samarpan. The band has performed all across the country and abroad. Currently, he is a faculty of music at Sharda Sangeet Vidyalaya, Mumbai.
