Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar is an Indian academician, administrator, and author. In January 2016, he was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar is best known for being appointed as the Chairman of the University Grants Commission of India (UGC) on 4 February 2022.Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar was appointed as a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi soon after finishing his doctoral degree. He held the NXP (Philips) Chair Professor position at IIT Delhi, which was established by Philips Semiconductors, Netherlands (now NXP Semiconductors India Pvt Ltd).From 2001 to 2006, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar served as the Chairman of the Electronics Group in the Department of Electrical Engineering. From September 2009 to September 2011, he worked with the VLSI Design, Tools and Technology interdisciplinary program as its Coordinator. At IIT Delhi, Jagadesh Kumar worked as a Chief Investigator of the Nano-scale Research Facility (NRF) and also held the position of Chief Investigator of the Center of Excellence for Nanodevices and Systems. This program was funded by the Government of India and its Ministry of Human Resource Development.
