Lakshmi Sriraman is a professional dancer based out of the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. She is an accomplished choreographer, performer, and teacher of the classical dance form called Bharatanatyam. She is the artistic director and founder of the Shree School of Dance in Lexington, Kentucky.
Lakshmi has performed many solo Bharatanatyam recitals that were very well received by connoisseurs and critics. Her dance is marked by lithesome grace, clear lines and crisp footwork. Her ability to portray complex human emotions in stunningly simple ways is a hallmark of her dance.
Having been trained by the best teachers in India and the USA, Lakshmi takes the absolute precision of the sacred movements in Bharatanatyam to weave stories that have touched audiences around the US.
Lakshmi is passionate about sharing her love for dance and founded Shree School of Dance to provide Bharatanatyam education in Kentucky. Her dance workshops are much sought after by Bharatanatyam dancers and dancers of other genre.
Lakshmi started her training in Bharatanatyam under Smt Sujatha Ramalingham. She continued her training under Guru Padmaja Kelam, Atlanta. She is currently mentored by Smt Priyadarsini Govind, one of the world's best Bharatanatyam performing artists today.
