Biography
Kshitij Mathur started learning Hindustani vocals from a tender age under the blessed tutelage of his grandmother, Smt. Saroj Mathur – disciple of Late Padmashree Pt Vinaya Chandra Maudgalya and Late Smt. Padma Devi. He completed his Sangeet Visharad from the prestigious institution, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, in New Delhi. Later, he pursued Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, under the guidance of Shri Samarjit Roy (disciple of Padmashree Pt Madhup Mudgal and grandson of the famous Rabindrasangeet vocalist of the golden era, Late Shri Mrinal Chakraborty). For the last six years, he has been teaching Hindustani classical vocal music at the esteemed institution, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, in New Delhi. He is currently pursuing his music career further, by nurturing his vocal skills under the able guidance of Smt. Subhadra Desai and also from Pt Madhup Mudgal. He has learnt and attended workshops under: Shri Vikas Kashalkar on Voice Culture & Khayal Gayaki Late Smt. Purnima Chaurdhuri on Banaras-ang-Gayaki (Thumri, Tappa, Jhoola, Hori, Chaiti) Smt. Kshitij is the recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Kala Parishad Scholarship (Delhi Government) for advanced training in Hindustani Vocal Music, and S.T.C. (State Trading Corporation of India) Scholarship for Hindustani Vocals.
