Kavalam Sreekumar is a professional singer based out of the capital of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.
Born to an illustrious father, Padmabhushan Sri Kavalam Narayana Panikkar, famous theatre director and poet, he started learning classical vocal music at the age of five.
He learnt music under masters like Trichur Vaidyanathan, Ambalappuzha Sivasankara Panikkar, Ambalappuzha Thulasi and Mavelikkara Prabhakara Varma.
He had advanced training in Carnatic music under the famous violinist, Shri B Sasikumar, of All India Radio, Trivandrum.
Kavalam Sreekumar was the recipient of first prize in classical vocal music at the University Youth Festival for five years. He has performed at music concerts all over the country and abroad.
Kavalam has a distinctive style of rendering classical music, which also gives importance to voice culture, expression and clarity of lyrics.
His soulful, clear, authentic and powerful rendering of scriptures like Bhagavata, Ramayana, Soundarya Lahari, Lalitha and Vishnu Sahasra Namam, Dhyana Slokas, etc. are widely listened and acclaimed by Malayalees throughout the world.
