Kankana Singh is a professional dancer based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata.
She is the daughter of Sri Kunjo Singh, and was born and brought up in an atmosphere of dance and music from a very tender age.
She started performing at the age of four. She hails from the family of the legendary maestros of Manipuri Dance Guru Bipin Singh and Guru Kalavati Devi.
Her initial training in Manipuri dance was from her father, Sri Kunjo Singh (ex-teacher of Rabindra Bharati University) and her mother, Smt Mira Singh, who was also a performing artist herself.
Her further training is going on under Guru Kalavati Devi and her daughter, Smt Bimbavati Devi. She is also currently undergoing training of Poong playing from her father.
She is one of the senior repertory members of Manipuri Nartanalaya, Kolkata, one of the pioneer institutes of Manipuri dance in India.
Kankana has performed in many dance programs throughout the country in places like Delhi, Shillong, Mumbai, Allahabad, Tripura, Bhopal, Punjab, Bangalore, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Varanasi, Guwahati, and Manipur as a solo artist and also along the Manipuri Nartanalaya.
