Kalyani Singh is an Indian lecturer, who is the daughter of the Himachal Pradesh High Courts Acting Chief Justice Sabina Singh. She is a suspected killer in the 2015 high-profile murder of former national-level shooter and advocate Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu alias Sippy Sidhu. In 2015, she worked as an assistant professor on a contract basis in the home science department of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42, Chandigarh. On 20 September 2015, Sippy Sidhu, a national-level shooter and an advocate was gunned down at a park in Sector 27, Chandigarh, by some unknown assailant. As per the police officials, around four bullets were fired at Sidhu using a .12 bore gun. Following the murder, The UT Police registered a case of murder in Sector 26 police station. Talking about Sippys murder, during a media conversation, a Chandigarh police official said, It was a case of murder and the police is investigating it. His body was found at around 11 pm on Sunday night in the Sector 27 park. He was probably shot dead at around 10.15 pm. His body has two or three bullet injuries..Sidhus family members accused Kalyani (former girlfriend of Sippy Sidhu) of Sidhus murder. During a media conversation, Sidhus mother talking about Kalyanis relationship with Sidhu, said, We told the police that the judges husband and a relative of theirs had threatened Sippy, following which I told him to remain cautious. The judges daughter also came to our house in August and asked Sippy whether he would marry her. We suspect that he was murdered due to his refusal to marry the girl. The police probe will reveal the true culprit..Following Sidhus familys allegations, the prime suspect in the case, Kalyani Singh, was apparently grilled twice by the Chandigarh police. Her second questioning was also videotaped by the police. In 2016, the case was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). CBI, in its initial probe into the death case, revealed the fact that a woman was accompanying Sippys killer at the time of the murder..In the same year, CBI announced a cash reward of Rs. 5 lakh to any person who would help the agency with pieces of evidence to crack the case. Afterwards, the CBI also released an advertisement which reportedly stated, The said woman is also being given this opportunity to come forward and contact us if she is innocent. Otherwise, it shall be presumed that she was a party to the offence..In the case hearing in 2020, the CBI filed an untraced report in the court stating that it did not have enough evidence to file a charge sheet against Kalyani Singh. At the same time, it sought the courts permission to continue its investigation due to a strong suspicion on her.As the investigation deepened, the CBI raised the reward money in the case to Rs. 10 lakh in December 2021. However, it failed to collect any clues. In June 2022 hearing, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in its application stated that it required a 10 days remand for Kalyani Singh to interrogate her to find the other person involved in the case and the weapon and the vehicles used in the case.
