Jitendra Prasada challenged the leadership of Rahul Gandhis mother Sonia Gandhi.In 2000, Prasada was among the 23 Congress rebels, often termed as G23, who wrote a letter to the Indian National Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi about the organizational challenges that the Congress party was seeking to establish its fixed roots in India. However, Sonia Gandhi made it clear that the letter was not to defame the ruling procedure of congress. Sonia Gandhi said that it was unfortunate that the top leaders of congress were protesting.
