Jay Shah, son of India’s Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah, is the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and also the president of the Asian Cricket Council.Reportedly, Jay Shah aspired to become a cricketer during his teen days for which he even received professional cricket training for a short period under former Gujarat Cricket Team coach Jayendra Sehgal.After graduating from Ahmedabad’s Nirmala University, Jay Shah joined his family business of PVC pipes in around 2003.Following in his father’s footsteps, who had worked as a stockbroker prior to joining politics, Jay Shah incorporated a trading business company by the name Temple Enterprises Pvt Ltd in 2004.In 2009, Jay Shah made his way into cricket administration after joining Gujarat Cricket Association (GCI) as an executive member. He was elected as the joint secretary of GCI in 2013. The most significant project that he headed during his term as the GCA Joint Secretory was the construction of the world’s largest cricket arena, Narendra Modi Stadium. Jay Shah inaugurating the GCA Indoor Academy.In 2015, he joined the BCCI administration and became a member of the finance and marketing committees of the board.In 2015, Shah bought 60 per cent ownership in Kusum Finserve, a stock trading and marketing consultancy firm.Shah’s trading company Temple Enterprises Pvt Ltd was shut down in October 2016.In September 2019, Jay Shah stepped down from the position of GCI joint secretory. After a month, he was elected as the secretary of BCCI. He was the youngest administrator ever to take charge as BCCI secretary. Jay Shah, along with Sourav Ganguly, N. Srinivasan, Rajeev Shukla and other BCCI officials, at his office allotted by the BCCI.In December 2019, BCCI chose Jay Shah as a representative of BCCI for CEC meetings of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
