Jassi Jasraj is a professional singer based out of the capital of Haryana and Punjab, Chandigarh. Born in 1973, Jassi Jasraj belongs to the village of Desy Majra located in Ropar, Punjab. He is well known as a singer, lyricist, and an innovative artist among Punjabis in India and abroad. Jassi graduated from the Punjabi University, Patiala and then started out his profession as a singer and a lyricist. He is also a member of the Film Writers Association, Mumbai since 1999. As an action for Humanity Day 2009, Jassi coordinated and collaborated with all celebrities to donate blood, food, and medication for the needy. In 2012, he single-handedly raised his voice against the vulgarity that was plaguing Punjabi lyrics and songs which were influencing teenagers and kids alike. His campaign was much appreciated throughout the Punjabi community in India and abroad. Tezaab 1984 was his song against the people who were behind the genocide of 1984, massacre of Sikhs. He lifted his voice musically which was applauded by people of all religions in India and abroad. In 2013, he also starred as the main lead actor in the hit Punjabi movie, Bikkar Bai Sentimental, whose theme rotated around corruption eating the common man. To further his cause for humanity and against corruption, Jassi was invited to join the Aam Aadmi Party by national leaders and as a result, he contested as a candidate for Lok Sabha 2014 from Bathinda, Punjab.
