Japtej Singh is a Bollywood and Punjabi actor who is currently based out of Chandigarh. Japtej belongs to a religious Sikh family and lives with them in Chandigarh. Japtej Singh is a student studying in Yadvindra Public School. The first time when he faced the camera was on the sets of the Punjabi movie, 'Lucky Di Unlucky Story'. He played the role of Japu in the movie, who is the son of Jaswinder Bhalla. In the movie, Japtej was asked by the director to not act, and he acted naturally in the movie. The time Japtej auditioned for the Bollywood movie, 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', he was 12 years old then. Around 6000 other contestants auditioned for that role, but Japtej got selected by director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. In the movie 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', he played the role of young Milkha and his screen presence in the movie was of around 40–45 minutes. His acting in the movie was critically appreciated. Japtej says, "I went under the training of three months for swimming and running and also observed the 'Flying Sikh' Milkha Singh so that he can know his way of talking and walking. He also said that the time spent on the shooting was a lifetime learning experience. Japtej is not just a sports character in a movie, but in real life also he is a sports enthusiast. He is a good hockey player, too. Japtej says that he will first concentrate on his studies and then will think of acting as a career.
