Indrani was born as Pori Bora in Assam in 1972.Though she had enrolled herself for the matric school, she pursued it a year later from the private board.In 1996, She founded INX Services Private Limited, a recruitment company based in Kolkata, West Bengal. With just 10 people working at the office, the agency was way too small. Reliance Industries was the most important client of her firm.Indrani and Peter became promoters of the INX Group in 2006. The group consisted Human Resource companies namely INX Services and INX Executive Search, and media companies like INX Media and INX News. She became the chairperson of INX group that year.The Wall Street Journal, in November 2008, named Indrani as one of 50 Women to Watch. For her achievements in the field of art, media, broadcasting sector, she was bestowed with Uttar Ratna by Uttar Bhartiya Mahasangh, an organization that aims to promote the North Indian community across the country.INX Media had accumulated losses of INR 800 Crore by March 2009, and it was under a debt of about 100 crores. This was the time Indrani resigned from Management position followed by Peter a month later.In August 2015, she was arrested after getting slapped with a number of Indian Penal Codes (IPCs) in her daughter Sheena Boras murder case.
