Hybrid Protokol is a professional DJ duo based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. The duo came together in 2014 and has performed several gigs since then. It is the brainchild of DJs – Soumajit and Aneesh. They like to play Big Room Dance music and have spawned their zeal from the love of early electronica artists like Prodigy, Orbital, Chemical Brothers, etc. Soumajit: He started practicing Indian classical music from a tender age. The electronic music bug hit him when he was exposed to the sounds of Orbital, The Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, Infected Mushroom, Prodigy, Shpongle, etc. A self-learnt DJ, Soumajit's style evolved as a mix of electronica and spirituality and is deeply rooted in the Indian culture. His speciality is improvisational electronica, where he surprises the audiences with a different rendition of the same songs. Aneesh: He belongs to a family with a legacy of music and cinema. He grew up listening to electronic music from quite an early age. After graduating in Sound Engineering from the SAE Institute, he began his career as a sound designer with a renowned recording and post-production studio in Kolkata. Aneesh's passion for the 90s' electronica sound led him to practice and perform his peculiar style of electronic music. His music is identified by his peppy and aggressive lead synthesizer's riffs, which is an integral part of the duo's sonic identity. Their music style varies from the breakbeat electronica to the bits of alternative techno, acid, and UK Rave. They released their first LP, titled 'Deep Beyond Belief'. The LP consists of six tracks – all accurately produced and mastered. The release was online via OK!Listen, iTunes and other digital platforms. Together, Hybrid Protokol's famous gigs, till date, have been at: Border Movement Lounge, Kolkata (couple) Summer House Cafe, Delhi Aqua, Hyderabad The Park, Hyderabad and many more.
