Horjwlai is a LIVE band based out of Agartala, Tripura. They are a metal band formed in 2007. The line-up consists of Ronald (guitar), Chiranjib (bass), and Dbakar (drums) with metal music as their forte. Being young, they were full of energy and ready to release the potential within them. This came to pass when Tomson (vocals) and Pitra (guitar) joined the band. Early on, the group experimented with a variety of genres, trying to figure out what sound would best suit them. In 2008, they came to realise that metal and its sub-genres were what they related to most. Hailing from Tripura, a place where there is no Western music culture, it has been very challenging for the members. Although a simple thing like organising a Western music concert in the state is very hard, given the state of affairs, they are determined to make a change and are doing so by composing music that incorporates the heavy sounds of metal and their own tribal tunes and melodies. Their original track, Jong Johny Jong, is a folk metal song sung in their native language Kokborok, which speaks of rejuvenating the culture in Tripura.
