Grey Area is a band based out of Delhi, and comprises some of the finest artists of the capital city. It improvises with groove-based music, and draws inspiration from funk rock, jazz, and RnB. The members possess their individual set of influences that get mixed to achieve exciting sounds. Grey Area has proven their mettle at some of the big jazz festivals, at famous jazz venues – throughout India. It has also played for giant brands like Apple, Honeywell, IDFC, Kohler, and The British Council. Members: Saibal Basu on guitars – He is famous for his jaw-dropping guitar solos, and is considered to be one of the best guitar players in India. He is also a well-known music producer with many Bollywood and advertising projects to his credit. Abhay Sharma on saxophone – A rising superstar on the Indian music scene, Abhay turned pro at 16. He has already played with some of the greatest musicians in India, including a worldwide tour with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. His influences range from Bollywood to jazz. Anirban Ghosh on bass guitar – A student of the legendary bass player – Gary Willis, he is the first-call bass player for many important music projects in the city, including the Sushmit Sen Chronicles and Rabbi Shergill. Anil Chawla on keyboards – The most in-demand-sessions keyboard player in the city – Anil is a multi-talented musician, who, besides Grey Area, also plays on regularly with the legendary singer Shubha Mudgal. Abhinav Dhar on drums – Having spent a career running an advertising agency, Abhinav has worn many hats over the years. He played with an iconic band called Collegium, in the late 70s, and more recently Whimsy Logic in the 90s – along with Saibal Basu.
