Biography

Gravity is a six-piece LIVE alternative/metal/rock/progressive band based out of the capital city of Jharkhand, Ranchi. The band came into existence when a bunch of friends decided to put a band together and play their own kind of hard hitting music. All of this started in 2006 with the original line-up, and further line-up changes took place in the years that followed. Gravity always had full support of Kunal Kumar as an additional vocalist. Kunal has been a prominent member of metal bugs. The band started their journey when they first played at St Xavier’s College, Ranchi, and there hasn’t been any looking back ever since! Gravity managed to stay thick and strong as they kept performing in different cities in the next few years. The band was declared the winners at Oorja-08 (an ISM Dhanbad event) where they did exceptionally well. Gravity received the first prize at the 'Prabhat Khabar Silver Jubilee Year' Rock Competition-2009 and also won Rock Jatra-09 Chapter-2. As a band, Gravity still yearns for something bigger that is self-driven and most of all, original. It firmly believes in giving it back to the society. Towards this, they have performed in Charity Shows and have raised funds for the poor and needy. Some of the events where they have performed are 'Bosco Flood Relief Rock Concert-2008', 'Christmas Mela-2010', 'Relief Program for Adivasi Victims of Kokrajhar Assam', etc. Their style of music has influences from heavy-metal, alternative and progressive rock genres. The band has also started exploring musical possibilities in Hindi and indigenous Jharkhand tunes and beats (rock, contemporary and fusion) and they have been adding these numbers to their LIVE shows. Gravity also intends to focus more on their original numbers and create greater impact in the days to come.
