Biography

The band Goonjjj was formed in 2008 in the IT capital of India, Bangalore. It wasn't long before the rhythm guitarist Rahul Sanadhya and the lead vocalist Kunal Kushwaha had higher ambitions of performing at places all over when they discovered Sudipta Sahu playing as a lead guitarist at a college party. The three formed the core of Goonjjj, and the group began playing local gigs. Female vocalist Manisha Kanyal, percussionist Anideep Mukherjee, vocalist Rahul Sharma and keyboardist Suneer Mehmood were added to the band subsequently. Success in infant stage: They started with few hit Bollywood album tracks and penetrated the market. The song Teri Diwani by Kailash Kher was reprised and rendered by the band’s lead vocalist Kunal. It was then when Goonjjj created a space in the sand dunes. The people welcomed the band with open arms and more tracks from albums ‘Kailasha’, ‘Rangeele’ followed. The unique compositions of A R Rehman and unparalleled compositions of R D Burman became an integral part of Goonjjj’s performances in the town’s coffee parlors like CCD and Barista. Mainstream Rock Success The band gained recognition and started performing in Swensen’s, Cream & Fudge and enrolled into a contract with Costa Coffee’s different branches across Bangalore. The band gave an immaculate performance at the IBS- ICFAI, Bangalore Alumina Meet’12. Here the evergreen and ever enchanting compositions where highly praised by the sophisticated audience with some of the adrenaline busting numbers from the ‘RockStar’ movie. Meanwhile, some terrific performances were thrown by Goonjjj at the ‘Minakshi Mall’, ‘Total Mall’ and ‘Phoenix Mall’, Bangalore and BM Habitat Mall, Mysore. The flavour of music: Majorly, the band involves into the light music, Indian semi-classical and feet tapping numbers. The band delves into the reminiscence of classic Bollywood numbers by Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi to create a smooth blend with the super hit tracks of KK, Mohit Chauhan, Shaan, Sonu Nigam and Atif AslamAslam. Ghulam Ali, Jagjeet Singh, Rasheed Khan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s are also rendered by Goonjjj as and when the ambience demands. Fresh releases are always on the bands top lists.
