Girish And The Chronicles (GATC) is a LIVE hard rock band started by the lead vocalist/guitarist/songwriter, Girish Pradhan, on 18 October 2009, in Gangtok (Sikkim, India). The band is currently based out of the IT capital of India and the capital city of Karnataka, Bangalore. Girish and The Chronicles (GATC) is a four-piece LIVE band famous for electrifying and energetic LIVE shows. The band is influenced by veterans like ACDC, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, and Guns N’ Roses. GATC’s sound takes you to the foundation of the Woodstock era of rock. Its originals are inspired from interpersonal relationships, day-to-day struggles, war, life onstage, life backstage, life offstage, and the band’s reminiscing rock n’ roll experiences. Their sound is a mixture of power ballads and hard rock/classic metal; they treat their fans with sounds of the 70s and 80s eras. GATC’s debut single, ‘Angel’, was included into the Great Eastern Rock compilation Vol. II, and it was the band’s first known OC. Further, in 2009, GATC began recording singles. The band received a lot of recognition and fan-following, and immediately began participating in rock festivals that led to many headlining acts. The track, ‘Golden Crown’, which was penned for the Sikkim Football Association, became a part of their playlist, much to the delight for football fans. While they had been performing songs ‘I Wanna Get That Lovin' Again’ and ‘Ride to Hell’ at shows, these tracks didn’t get recorded for a very long time. In mid-2010, GATC’s single, ‘Yesteryears’ got nominated and awarded a Silver Trophy, at the ‘Suncane Skale Festival’, in Montenegro, Europe. This gave a boost to GATC’s publicity, and triggered public awareness, too. After playing across the Northern half of India in 2010, GATC went into the Southern part for a promotional, month-long tour in September 2011, in Bangalore. ‘Ride to Hell’, ‘I Wanna Get That Lovin' Again’, and ‘Loaded’ were finally recorded. A week later, the band recorded ‘A New Beginning’, due to occurrence of an earthquake in their hometown, which claimed a lot of lives. While the other songs got released, ‘Loaded’, ‘I Wanna Get That Lovin' Again’ and ‘A New Beginning’ were still pending. In 2011, Girish went to Hong Kong and South Korea (with Silver Tears, Yamaha Asian Beats’2011), to explore the band's next adventure. Girish dealt with a few venues and played as a solo artist in Hong Kong for a few months, and then brought the rest of the band for an unforgettable year-long stay. Girish would, however, occasionally come back to India for specific solo shows. Girish eventually returned to India in 2012-end, to perform a solo show at the Punjab Engineering College (PEC) festival, Chandigarh. The next month, the whole GATC returned, and it started recording again. The band made a kickstart return with a show in Siliguri, near to their hometown Gangtok. A three-month recording and re-mastering gap in 2013 signified that GATC didn't do too many gigs. The result of this gap came out with their album-release, ‘Back On Earth’, in 2014, under the renowned label, Universal Music Group. The album comprised 14 tracks that took their fans on a trip into the era of the best Rock. The album gained traction with massive sale of CDs and also online downloads. Following it, the band did a Hard Rock Cafe tour to release 'Back On Earth' in all major rock hubs in India, such as New Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Bangalore. GATC recently performed at the Rock Stock Festival, the biggest beach rock festival in India. The Southern HOG Rally Meet (Harley Owners Group Meet) in Hyderabad got electrified with GATC playing OCs interspersed with Black Sabbath, Steppenwolf, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and other headbanging recipes. After making tours to Vietnam and Thailand, GATC also performed at the North East Festival 2014 in Delhi, the Panaliar Fete, and the Ahaia Peace Concert in Meghalaya. In 2015, GATC performed at the Sastricas Festival at NITS Mirza in Assam, and also at the ‘Songs and Dances’ of the North East Festival at Delhi. They have performed at the Mighty Rock Union hosted by Grooveshack, along with many other renowned artists. They also did several charity concerts to help rebuild Nepal after the massive earthquake. Till date, GATC has done tribute gigs for Eagles, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, and Guns N’ Roses. Girish Pradhan has also got featured in the tribute to Judas Priest and Iron Maiden along with Kryptos.
