Biography

Gino Banks is a professional drummer based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. He has been playing drums from the age of eight, but took it up seriously at the age of 15. He is the son of legendary jazz pianist Louiz Banks. He toured in China and Australia with his father's Indo-jazz fusion band, Sangam, playing percussion when he was only nine. Gino has performed and recorded with bands and artists from all types of genres, like Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pt Shivkumar Sharma, Fazal Qureshi, Taufiq Qureshi, and Pandit Vikku Vinayakram. He has also performed with Bollywood musicians like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Vishal-Shekhar, Salim-Sulaiman, Pritam, and Hariharan. Gino Banks has played with fusion groups like SILK, Niladri Kumar’s Sitar Funk, Yuva, Rakesh Chaurasia, Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan, and Bala Bashkar. He has also had the privilege of playing some tracks for the 'Miles from India' album produced by Bob Belden, which was nominated for the 2009 Grammy Awards in 'contemporary jazz' category with Times Square Records, NYC.
