My Compelling Story

    Gargi Ghosh was born into a family that appreciates music. She took her first lessons at a very tender age from her father, Sri Samar Bandyopadhyay, a disciple of Maestro Manabendra Mukhopadhyay. She has received valuable guidance by Sri Kalyan Sen Barat, Smt Mandira Lahiri, Smt Shubhra Guha and Sri Debashish Ganguly. Gargi pursued music in her higher studies and obtained a first class in her master’s degree from Rabindra Bharati University in 2001. She trained under the tutelage of Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty since 1999 till date. Achievements: Stood first in Nazrulgeeti and was awarded in the Students Youth Festival in 1996 Stood second in Bhajan at a competition of the West Bengal State Music Academy in 1999 Stood first in Bhajan at the Dover Lane Talent Search Contest in 1999-2000 with record marks and was awarded - Ratu Sen Memorial Challenge Cup Biman Ghosh Memorial Challenge Trophy Harihar Sukla Memorial Trophy HMV Cash Award   Major Performances:   Orchestra by Pandit Deepak Chowdhury in Bangalore in the occasion of Sri Satya Sai Baba’s birthday Sanskriti Sagar and Anjika at Birla Sabhaghar Satyananda Devayatan Saturday Club Calcutta Rowing Club Najrul Manch, organised by Shrutinandan in memory of Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh Aurobindo Ashram (Delhi) Calcutta School of Music (Gaan Sudhu Gaan Live) Shrutinandan (Guru Jnan Prakash Ghosh Sanctum) Calcutta Festival 2007 London (Harrow) with a renowned band, 2007 Sarat Sadan, Behala Rotary Club Musical offering in the aid of Gujarat Earthquake Relief Victims presented by Bidhan Nagar Family Welfare Organization at Gorkha Bhavan Salt-Lake Geeta Jayanti Utsav Bangla Sangeet Mela (Kolkata, Howrah)
