Fubar Ghetto is a LIVE band based out of the capital of India, New Delhi. The band blends elements of a wide variety of genres including classic rock, jazz, and blues. The band comprises musicians with up to 20 years of experience in playing, recording and teaching music. Band Members: Vikram Chongtham – Guitars, Bass, Vocals Born to a family with strong musical traditions, Vikram has been musically active for the last 20 years. Son of Chongtham Kamala, the famous Hindustani and Rabindra Sangeet singer in Manipur, he started playing the accordion, Hawaiian and Spanish guitar at the age of eight and grew up performing for All India Radio. It was during his two years stint in Calcutta in the early 1990s that he was introduced to classical and jazz music by eminent musicians at the Calcutta School of Music. He has been a member of a few rock bands in Imphal – the most notable of which being Ultra Vires, Phoenix and Eastern Dark. Having played in more than 300 concerts, he has 30 albums and 120 singles to his credit as a session musician. Vikram now works as an instructor at a Music School, affiliated to The Trinity School of Music, UK. Raju RK – Bass, Guitar Raju is a self-taught bass player and guitarist who honed his skills in jazz bass under the tutelage of Karl Peters (Mumbai). He has played in some influential bands such as Dizzy and Cannibals which played throughout India in the early 90s. While in Mumbai, Raju was a sought after session musician and also performed with the well-known outfit The Hoboes in the late 90s. He has also been a member of the Indian Harm Reduction Experience in Delhi. Raju’s playing is greatly inspired by Jaco Pastorius, Weather Report, Stu Hamm, and Jeff Berlin.  Aditya Singh – Drums, Percussion Aditya is a self-taught musician, playing the drums and percussion for the last 15 years. He has played with bands and theatre groups while at the University of Delhi. Aditya's playing is inspired by musical spontaneity and improvisation. Vikram and Raju, both prolific musicians, had played together during the early 90s. They reunited in Delhi in 2010 to start a modern-jazz project – something of a rarity in India. After jamming regularly for a few months, Raju was introduced to Aditya through a common friend. Similar tastes in music, the active craving to make music, and the drive to introduce people to different types of jazz formed the foundation of an instant bonding between Vikram, Raju and Aditya. The very first jam session unveiled an instant connect with the three musicians, and Fubar Ghetto was formed in the summer of 2010. The name was recommended by a friend when they played their first concert – a charity show near a slum on the banks of the Yamuna river in Delhi. Since then, the band has headlined the National School of Drama’s annual festival, Jamia Millia University, The Living Room (TLR), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Under the Banyan Tree (Khan Market), and Baci (Sunder Nagar) to name a few. Fubar Ghetto frequently collaborates with singers and instrumentalists from various genres to make their shows diverse, distinct and full of surprises! Between 2011-12, the lineup highlighted German Saxophone player, Busso Alvensleben. The band is currently active on the LIVE circuit in Delhi and is in the process of writing some of their compositions.
