Biography
FRUZU is an eclectic four-piece band based out of the capital city of India, New Delhi. The band made its debut TV appearance on the prestigious Music Mojo Season 4 on Kappa TV in early 2016, and was one of the few Delhi bands that have been featured on the show. Apart from playing originals, they also cover funk, rock and alternative covers by artists like Led Zeppelin, RHCP, Tower of Power, Stevie Wonder, and many more. Recently, the band played to a sold out show in Kochi for the Vice President of India. Band Lineup: Pragnya Wakhlu: Lead Vocals and Guitar She is the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and the front-woman of the band. Known for her powerful vocals and deep lyrics, Pragnya has been performing professionally in India and abroad since 2008. She was awarded the third place for the 'Best Female Vocalist' at the South-East Asian Indiego Music Awards and nominated twice for the Jack Daniels Music Awards (2010, 2011). Her debut solo album 'Journey To the Sun' was nominated for the GIMA Awards for 'Best Music Debut' and 'Best Pop Album'. Shubhanshu Singh: Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals He prefers letting his guitar do the talking. Storming onto the music scene nearly a decade ago, Shubhanshu has been widely-recognized for his stunning playing. He started playing guitar at the age of 13 and his melodic and technical approach never fails to leave the hardest of critics spellbound. He is also the lead guitarist for other bands like Rock Veda, Jazba, Mausiqaar and Trizya. Manoj Mavely: Drums He is the first ever drummer from the Indian sub-continent to be awarded a $28,000 scholarship to study at the world-renowned Berklee College of Music, Boston. He performs in contemporary Afro-Cuban, funk, jazz, rock and Brazilian styles and has played extensively with Jazzman Tyris Washington amongst many others. His versatility is evident as he can play everything from jazz to pop to speed metal. Sonic Shori: Bass Sonic hass been the student of Grammy-nominated Greek-American musician Panagiotis Andreou. He has comprehensive stage experience having collaborated with musicians coming from different genres including fusion, classical, funk and metal. His playing combines complexity with cohesion, playing melodies with dexterity, musicality and tenacity. Sonic has been collaborating with many bands like Kaash, Antariksh, Trizya, Adil & Vasundhara over the last 5 years.
