My Compelling Story

Echo Dirt is a LIVE band originating from Meghalaya. It was formed in 2011 by guitarist and songwriter, Frederick Passah. The initial line-up was rounded out by drummer, Redeem Pakma, and bassist, Phillip Laloo, who was replaced in 2012 by Sahkynmo Pakma.  The band started off as a three-piece band with Frederick on guitar and lead vocal. However, this was changed when one of the band mates suggested that Mandauni Lamare should try to be a lead singer who, at the time, was drummer of the side project of the band’s guitarist called Kick the Day. The guys loved how they complimented each other through music that they decided to offer him a place in the band as a permanent lead singer. Since then, with this new line-up, Echo Dirt has performed in many shows in the state and has gain recognition in the rock platform in Shillong.  Echo Dirt’s music is highly influenced by bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Oasis, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains and the likes. However, their music is continuously evolving to strive for the discovery of their unique sound they can call their own.  Through their music, one can associate with being on a ride back to the 90’s which of course, is the main motive of the band, ie to bring the original sound of music back to life.
