Deeksha Toor is a professional singer based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. Born in 1994, Deeksha is the new rising star and a sensational diva in the world of Hindustani music. Deeksha catapulted to fame recently when she made it to the Top 10 of Indian Idol 6 in Sony Channel, while still at school. She is immensely popular in the capital for her folk and devotional repertoire. In fact, she is one of the most sought-after singers for recording vocals. She continues to be a LIVE-wire in her concerts and stage shows as she has been gifted with an outstanding range and a melodious voice that reverberates through listener’s ears. Deeksha has always been appreciated lavishly for her eloquent renditions of ghazals by the connoisseurs of music. Deeksha was guided by her father, Shri Piyush Raj, who is a well-known virtuoso singer from Himachal Pradesh and a disciple of famous guru, Shri LK Pandit of the Gwalior Gharana. She has inherited not only the melodic niche of her father, but also the prolificacy of a modern pop singer. Her innate quality to be a celebrity singer was sighted at the tender age of five when she got her first recording contract to sing for a children’s serial. Till now, she has got around 523 recorded songs up her sleeves, which include some jingles and remixes too. As a promising kid, Deeksha recorded three title tracks for the TV Channel, 'Anjan TV' and later, composed some more numbers for T-Series as well. She sang a melodious song for a documentary film called Save Tigers Project. Recently, she has added a feather to her cap by singing the remix of a song by Asha Bhosle. In 2005, she won the Best Singer award in a music contest organised by Satmola, Delhi. At the age of 12, she won first prize in a TV show contest called Little Stars on DD Bharti Channel. Then, at the age of 13, she was announced as the Best Singer in a show called Honhaar on Total TV channel. Next year, in 2008, she played the role of a young anchor in the same show 'Honhaar 2', televised on Sadhana Channel. In 2006, she won the first prize in yet another prestigious contest organised by Geetanjali Kala Parv in the capital city of India. In 2009, she bagged the first prize in the Delhi region at the Sur-Tarang Contest organised by Sangam Kala Group, in the film category. In 2011, she was among the top 24 talents selected from all over India for a reality TV show called X-Factor. The year 2012 was very challenging for the young diva. On the one hand, she had to appear in her final Board’s exams and on the other, she had to face the selections for Indian Idol 6. She excelled on both the fronts by passing out of school with flying colors and making it to the top 10 in Indian Idol 6. She is pursuing a career in music now. For a God-gifted singer like Deeksha Toor, perhaps the sky is the only limit.
