Dark Desolation is a five-piece LIVE band based out of the IT hub of India, Bangalore.
The band has been flamboyant since its inception and has quickly established a place in the music world. Unarguably, Dark Desolation has emerged as the most vehement black metal outfit from India.
After a phenomenal audition of top-notch drum chops, the devious drummer Karthik – the youngest member in the band – was hired in 2010. The band then recruited the talents of guitarist, Dharni, and bassist, Jake.
Dark Desolation is the first from India to ever get associated to the world's best underground label, titled 'Salute Records' from Scandinavia, and has been featured constantly in compilations across Europe. The band was featured in a podcast with Dimmu Borgir within a few months after formation, and won several other radio appearances and compilations across USA and UK.
In 2011, Dark Desolation became the first ever Indian band to get featured on the prestigious 'Metal Hammer' magazine alongside bands like Decapitated, Sepultura, All Shall Perish, Trivium, Rise to Remain, and many more.
Later, in 2012, the band spent time in crafting their debut demo album consisting of five tracks that include a tribute to 'Dark Funeral', which was released worldwide by Scandinavian label, Salute Records, and was acclaimed critically worldwide.
More press reviews poured in with reviews of 9/10 from a lot of international websites, and the album reached out to a lot of countries attracting international audiences from countries like Ukraine, Japan, USA, Germany, Belgium, France, Turkey, Greece, Thailand, Malaysia, and many more. The band personally received an acclaim for their cover of a track from the black metal band 'Besatt'.
Dark Desolation continues to wave the flag of India, all over the world, becoming the first Indian band to land endorsement deals with some of the biggest brands like BC Rich Guitars, Railhammer Pickups, Blackstar Amplification, Sit Strings, InTune Guitar Picks, Big Bends, etc.
In 2014, the band unleashed its highly-acclaimed Slaytanic Warfare: It was a tribute to Jeff Hanneman's single, to pay respect to the legendary guitarist. The band also won the best 'Asian Breakthrough metal band' award of 2014, awarded by 'Global Metal Apocalypse'.
Dark Desolation is known for delivering the most aggressive LIVE performances ever witnessed by an Indian band, thereby, acquiring the title of the band's sound known as 'Unapolegic Ferocity' by critics.
