There, she taught English to the aspirants who wanted to join the Indian military as an officer. She worked there till 1998.In 1998, Mitali Madhumita worked as a manager with Versatile Construction Pvt. Ltd., a real estate company.In the same year, Mitali Madhumita appeared for the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE) which was conducted by the UPSC.In 1999, after clearing the Indian Armys selection process, Mitali Madhumita joined the Officers Training Academy (OTA).In 2000, Mitali Madhumita completed her training at the Officers Training Academy and was commissioned in the Indian Armys Army Education Corps (AEC) as a lieutenant.In 2004, Mitali Madhumita was posted as an instructor at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC). At DSSC, she taught English to officers who had come to India from friendly foreign nations.From 2007 to 2008, Mitali Madhumita served in the Ministry of Defence (MoD). There, she was given a staff appointment.
