My Compelling Story

Chokfite is a LIVE alternative/electronica/progressive/psychedelic/rock band based out of the capital city of India, New Delhi. Pronounced as ‘chalk-fight’, the band has been playing for more than two years now. It was founded in the year 2009 by Ankit Murarka, Kanishk Mehta, Sahil Gupta, and Anshul Vashist. Old Lineup: Kanishk on vocals Ankit on vocals and guitar Sahil on guitar Deepak on drums Anshul on bass guitar and keyboard In 2009, Deepak left the band and was replaced by Abhay Sharma. Kanishk took the lead guitar duties along with Ankit. Chokfite recorded a single – 'Someone Better than Me' – with Saffire Studios, which is available on ReverbNation and Facebook. In October 2010, the band saw another turn when Abhay Sharma left the band, while Deepak rejoined. In 2011, the band played before a crowd of approximately 1,500 at PSIT, New Delhi. They have also performed at ‘Rocknova’ at Hindustan Times Youth Nexus, in DCAC, Delhi University. In 2012, Chokfite went to Mumbai. They are unarguably the pioneers of ‘chalk rock’. Their music is characterized by ‘let go’ vocals and fills, punk/grunge and rock & roll-inspired rhythm guitars, blues-influenced lead guitars, great synth effects, and drum beats. The band also brings flavors of psychedelia/experimental rock with prolonged keyboard, guitars and drums.
