Charu Sharma is an Indian sportscaster, compre, and quizmaster.His father, N. C. Sharma, was once the Vice-Principal of Mayo College in Ajmer, Rajasthan. His father had also served as a Principal of Birla Vidyamandir in Uttarakhand.Sharmas family shifted to Rajasthan when he was just a few months old.While in school and college, he excelled at sports, especially rifle shooting and diving.He is a trained swimmer.In an interview, Sharma talked about his early inclination towards sports. He said, But diving was my forte and I became a national junior champ by the age of 11 and retired by 17..In 1978, Sharma got qualified for the Commonwealth Games. In an interview, while sharing the same, Charu said, I was the junior champion for seven years from the age of 11. I can safely say that later I was among the top three springboard divers in the country, the first two were from the army and were backed. I had qualified for the Commonwealth Games 1978 but had to give up as I had to go at my own expense. I had done well in the diving sport and quit at the ripe age of 19! There wasnt much left to do there. I was also a first-division cricketer in Kolkata. The broadcasting career started and it took off once the country liberalised and more networks began to come in the 90s..He represented Indian in swimming at the 1982 Asian Games. Sharma was the springboard diver in the international meet.He is married to Anuja Sharma who is the sister of Anand Mahindra, the vice-chairman and managing director of Mahindra and Mahindra. Sharma met Anuja for the first time in Mumbai. Before her marriage, Anuja used to work with a magazine. However, she gave up her career after marrying Charu.After he completed his scholarship program at Davidson College, he was offered a job at the college, however, he declined the offer as he did not have much interest in academics.
