Catherine Khiangte is a professional singer based out of Guwahati, Assam. Her first performance started at Vanapa Hall (biggest theatre in Mizoram) when she was five years old. She participated at her school and college's singing competitions and stood first in all of them. She also participated in the Karaoke World Championship (KWC) in 2011. Catherine stood first at the North East trial held at Kamakazi (Guwahati) and was selected for the East zonal trial at Afraa (Kolkata). She stood second and was selected for India's finale at Zinc (Mumbai). Unfortunately, she could not make it to Ireland because of her passport which was not ready at that time. Catherine released two Mizo albums which contain her original compositions. Rimawi Khawvel Production produced her first album in 2004 and the second album was self-produced and released in 2005. Both the albums were one of the most selling albums in Mizoram. She was even nominated for the Best Newcomer at the Rimawi Khawvel Music Award and Lelte Magazine Award in 2004. One of her songs is a duet with Johan H Lalmalsawma, who is a very famous singer in Mizoram. She has also composed another duet with Mizoram’s top rapper, Vincy Chhangte. Catherine has toured in most of every town and city in the state. She even went to perform for the Hmar Students Union (HSU) general conference at Hmarkhawlien, Silchar border. Catherine has performed at the finals of Mizoram Super Model Hunt, 2007, held at Aizawl. She played at Tingri Annual Club Meet at Tinsukia, Upper Assam in 2012, followed by club performances in Lido, Doom Dooma, Margherita, Digboi, and Golaghat, and a lot of tea and oil clubs in Assam till 2013. Currently, she has four big projects in her hand – with DJ Pulse, Pappu Gogoi (music director), Ravi Pasari, and Zubeen Garg, a very well known Bollywood singer.
