My Compelling Story

Burnout Syndrome is a LIVE band based out of Kolkata, West Bengal. The formation of Burnout Syndrome has a substantive story. It did not evoke from whimsical college friends with eluding ideas from studies, class bunks, and groundless hopes to becoming ‘cool’, but the aspiration to live and love music, to breathe and consume music led five people of different demographic backgrounds to come together from different spheres of the city to pursue the dream. The origin could be traced back to the time when the band's bassist, Sayan Gupta, left his former band and joined Dipayan Chakraborty and Prasun Roy on their project called Creep 2 Knight. Just when they had begun to feel positive vibes about the chemistry building up in their music, they had to replace their singer due to professional differences. The three of them went on searching for a second guitarist and a vocalist. It was tough to find someone who would properly serve both the need of clean and growl vocals. Luck was on their side when they finally found Soumyajit Dasgupta and Aditya Biswas, who had been making music together on a duo project called ‘Adi n Sam’ for quite some time. After they had joined in, the band evolved their sound to alternative metal with delay works on guitar and cleans and growl vocals, one bouncing over the other without destroying the essence. The significant change came along with the change of lineup and alteration of sound. Prasun Roy left the band for his personal issues who was rightfully replaced by Abhijit Das. After Abhijit had joined the rest, they started on their new journey with a bit of change in their sound, which technically is metalcore with djent influences. The original composition, Tormented Psychopath, reflects the heavier sound of the band. They worked on originals and regularly appeared for local gigs and competitions. And there was another turning point when Soumyajit left the lineup, and Anv (ex-vocalist of Drop Tuned) joined in to take on the vocal duties. After a few more line-up changes, the band is ready to record their debut album.
