Brahmaputra Boys is a four-piece folk rock band based out of Guwahati, Assam. Formed in 1992, the band was originally named 'The Great Generation', and launched themselves as a classic Western band. They started off by covering shows and programs in clubs and corporations across the Northeast region. As the band matured, and in their tryst to find their original sound, they gradually moved on to explore a genre called 'folk rock'. They are one of the pioneers who explored this genre in the state of Assam. The band decided to rename themselves to suit the music genre chosen and went on to call themselves 'Brahmaputra Boys' in 2004. The band's single 'Rang Gharat Rang Nai', received an award from the governor of Mizoram.
