Biography
Globally known as the inventor of Punjabi Rap, Bohemia is a well recognized and inspiring rapper and producer. Since the beginning of his career he was known for his innovation in music. He established a category of music which was never heard or touched before. After a few years he became an idol for both fans and artists alike. His first album, ‘Vich Pardesan De’ [In the foreign land] hitting Top 10 on BBC Radio UK was a great success. The album,‘Pesa Nasha Pyar’ [Money, Intoxication, Love] became the first full-length Punjabi rap album released by a major label in history. This made Bohemia more famous and pushed a recent multi-record deal with music mogul Universal Music [2006 - 2009]. Bohemia is now a legend of a new genre of music known as ‘Desi-Rap’. Maxim Magazine ranked Paisa, Nasha, Pyaar at #2 and #3 on Planet M charts in India. He has also appeared in international publications such as XXL magazine New York. His entry into Bollywood with the title track for the film ‘Chandni Chowk To China’, appearing next to Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone made his mark in Industry. He also performed a song for the film ‘Desi Boyz’ for Sanjay Dutt's Cameo. Bohemia's second studio album, Da Rapstar received four nominations at the UK Asian Music Awards and PTC Punjabi music awards, including ‘Best Punjabi Album’ and ‘Best Music Director’. He toured the world in 2009 performing all over America, Europe and Asia. He appeared on many of India’s Universal Mega-Compilations. Bohemia was one of the best-selling artists of the year according to UMG India in 2009, making him the brand ambassador of Universal Music Group India! Bohemia's birthplace in Karachi, Pakistan and moved to the united states of america in his teen years. At a young age he started learning music under his father's guidance. This was also the time he started writing poetry in Punjabi. When he moved to San Francisco Bay Area, California, mia entered the dark side of America where the youth was influenced by drugs and violence and everyday life became a struggle. After a year he lost his mother to cancer and became a local performer in small bars and clubs. He established himself as a keyboard player while surviving at local studios with other musicians. He had a few successful years with a group of musicians and then the group fell apart. Bohemia started promoting and composing music using Punjabi poetry, that he implemented into the songs creating a new era of revolutionary and groundbreaking music.
