Bickram Ghosh is a professional tabla player based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata.
World famous percussionist and new-age star, Bickram is ranked amongst the greatest tabla players of India. Equally brilliant within traditional as well as experimental styles, he has carved out a unique niche for himself in his diverse avatars as classical musician and composer.
Son of the great tabla maestro, Pandit Shankar Ghosh, Bickram has also studied the nuances of Carnatic percussion from Pandit S Sekhar. He performed for over a decade with the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar who sharpened his skills in the art of continuo.
He has over 75 recordings as a soloist, collaborator, and composer.
He has performed in almost every top venue in the world, among which are The Kennedy Centre (Washington DC), The Royal Albert Hall (London), Carnegie Hall (New York), The Palais De Beaux Arts (Brussels), and many others.
His performances have met with accolades in global circuits and his many affiliations with top western musicians such as George Harrison, Mstislav Rostropovich, Yosi Levi, Khaled Kouen, and others has placed him in the top rung of Indian musicians in the international arena.
Bickram played on Grammy award winning album ’Full Circle’ along with Ravi Shankar. He has played on four Grammy-nominated albums so far.
Bickram is also one of the leading composers of the country today. His highly acclaimed album Rhythmscape was followed up with successes like Folktail, Interface, Drum Invasion, Beyond Rhythmscape, The Kingdom of Rhythm with British multi-percussionist Pete Lockett, and White Note.
Bickram has collaborated with many singers on the Bollywood front as well. Among those who have sung for him are Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shubha Mudgal, Kailash Kher, and many others.
