Biography

Bharat Sundar is a professional singer based out of Chennai. He is an MA in Music from Madras University. He started learning Carnatic music from Smt Gayathri Mahesh and was trained later in life for more than 10 years by Mrs Leelavathi Gopalakrishnan, Vidushi, and G Srikanth. Currently, he is under the tutelage of Vidwan Sri PS Narayanaswamy. He had specialized training in Pallavi from Pallavi Sri J. Venkatraman and Sri Srimushnam Rajarao. He is also an All India Radio ‘B’ grade artist. Achievements: MS Subbulakshmi Birth Centenary Scholarship for three years, 2015 Won the All India Radio Carnatic and devotional music competitions and awarded ‘B Grade’ artist Recipient of CCRT (Centre for Cultural Resources and Training), Government of India Awarded scholarship by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha for pursuing Carnatic music as profession, 2008 Awarded as best performer in Junior Category by Indian Fine Arts, 2006 Awarded as the best performer in Junior Category by Sri.Thyagabrama Gana Sabha, 2006 Won many prizes in competitions conducted by leading Sabhas in Chennai from the age of eight Won First Prize Tambura in Smt Mangalam Ganapathi’s compositions and Thyagaraja compositions organised by Sri Raja Annamalaipuram Baktha Jana Sabha, 2005 Won in the competition organised by Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nadaga Mandram and has given four concerts at different venues Performances: Joined ‘Issai Mazhalai', a light music troupe formed by ‘Sri Abhaswaram Ramjhi - exclusively for children up to the age of 15 As a singer in the troupe, he has performed in about 250 stages and traveled to places like Sri Lanka and Singapore Performing artist at various leading Sabhas and organisations in the city and all over India Performed at various institutions in USA, Australia, UK, Dubai, Singapore, and Kuwait Awards: Outstanding Vocalist Award in Sub Senior category - Music Academy (2015) Sri Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha, Dr MLV Award Instituted by Smt Sudha Raghunathan (2015) Isai Chudar – Karthik Fine Arts (2010) Bru Carnatic Music Idol 2010 by Jaya TV (2010) Yuvakala Barathi - Bharat Kalachar (2009) Balakalaratna - Balakalasagaram Trust (2008) Yuva Kala Vipanchee - Vipanchi Institution, Chennai (2007) Bala Bhaskara -VDS Arts Academy (2005)
