Ashwamedha is a LIVE band based out of the capital of West Bengal, Kolkata. They started off as an English set up, based on progressive music. Later on, after the joining of Apurba (vocals), the band started improvising and implementing distortion sound into classical music maidenly. Working in this particular genre for the past two years, the sound of the band changed due to the change in the line-up. Right now, the members of the group are working on the progressive rock genre and progressive trans-music. Ashwamedha strictly believes in quality music. Irrespective of the type of music, the band aims at changing the musical scenario on commercialization. The band performs in college festivals, cultural shows, and corporate shows. They also compose music for jingles and various other projects. The band has performed more than 25 stage shows in two years which includes IIM Calcutta, IISWBM Calcutta, Heritage Institute Calcutta, South Calcutta Girls College, Jadavpur OAT, Keshtopur, Sinthi More, Haldia, Rampurhat, Durgapur, etc. The band has composed music for a short film named Tyaag and currently signed a contract for an upcoming Tollywood movie. The band is now busy recording their first album as well. Some of their inspirations are Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, and Metallica.
