Aruna Sairam is a professional singer based out of the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. This legendary Indian vocalist has intensely touched the souls of music lovers with her unique blend of voice that flows with resonance and range. Being a music ambassador of India, she has been instrumental in taking Indian music to a global arena, across diverse cultures, engaging and enrapturing audiences with her soulful renditions. She has created and performed an astounding range of South Indian classical music repertoire in diverse spaces, from salon music concerts and eclectic chamber settings to large auditorium spaces. She sings different genres of classical, semi-classical and folk music in several languages. A recipient of the Padma Shri award Aruna Sairam was born into a music loving family. Her parental home was a host to one of the scions of the Uttukadu family, Needamanagalam Krishnamurthy Bhagavathar. Aruna’s mother, Smt Rajalakshmi Sethuraman, was her first guru. Her mother was drawn towards the compositions of Uttukadu VenkataKavi. Aruna played a key role in propagating these brilliant compositions in her contemporary concerts.
