Arun Goel is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who was appointed as the Election Commissioner of India on 19 November 2022.His in-service training details include:.Arun Goel did his domestic training in Personnel and General Administration at various locations including ASCI Hyderabad, ATI Mysore, IIM Bangalore, NIRD Hyderabad, and NIRD Hyderabad.He has also gone abroad to receive training at Public Sector Management, USA, WTO Internal Trade & Development, Geneva, and CRISIS MGT., Commerce, United Kingdom. In 2013, Arun Goel did mid-level training ‘7th Round MCT Phase 5.’.He once headed the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) in Prime Minister’s Office.On 18 November 2022, he took voluntary retirement from the position of Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries. He was supposed to get retired on 31 December 2022. As per the order of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Kamran Rizvi replaced him.On 19 November 2022, the President of India Droupadi Murmu appointed him as the Election Commissioner of India. The post of one Election Commissioner in the three-member committee was vacant since 15 May 2022.
