Amitabh Thakur is a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1992 batch of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He is also a social activist. He was appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in ten districts of Uttar Pradesh. He also served as the Inspector General (IG) in the Civil Defence department of Uttar Pradesh.In 1992, Amitabh Thakur began his police career.
