Trichy K Murali is a professional ghatam artist based out of the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. He hails from a musical family; his father, VR Kannappa, and mother, K Saradha, played a pivotal role in grooming his career.
Trichy is a post graduate in commerce and materials management.
His early training began with mridangam maestro, Kalaimamani Trichy Thayumanavan. Initially, he learnt the mridangam and then switched over to the ghatam. Trichy is an ‘A’ graded ghatam artist from All India Radio.
Trichy has accompanied artists like Hyderabad Brothers, Madurai TN Seshagopalan, Trichur Ramachandran, TV Sankaranarayanan, Malladi Brothers, AKC Natarajan, Neyveli Santhanagopalan, Sanjay Subramanian, DK Pattammal, TM Krishna, Suguna Purushottam, R Vedavalli, Bombay Sisters, Aruna Sairam, Sudha Raghunathan, Bombay Jaysree, and Nithyasree Mahadevan to name a few.
He has received prizes and awards from various music institutions in India and abroad and has participated at the Sangeeth Natak Academy musical function in New Delhi.
Currently, Trichy conducts ghatam and mridangam classes in Chennai and abroad.
He has performed in countries like Switzerland, France, Germany, Luxemburg, Italy, USA, Canada, UK, Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa, Dubai, Muscat, Australia, and New Zealand.
