An impromptu jam at the World Heart Day Music Festival, 2013 brought together two individuals (Kenny Emmanuel & Gavin Pacheco) from different genres of music to create, what is now called ‘The Trio’. Accompanied by Varun Rajasekharan on the Cajon, The Trio has performed at various pubs, music festivals, and private gatherings where there has been a demand for Latin American, Western Classical, and Flamenco music. Kenny Emmanuel (Guitars) – specializes in the nylon-string guitar – covering classical, renaissance, baroque, Latin American and Flamenco music. Kenny has been performing solo, duo, and ensemble music besides working as a voice artist for various albums produced by Times Music. Kenny teaches finger style guitar playing at the American Embassy School and the Y.M.C.A, and also plays with a fusion band called the Kalpvriksh Project. He has also performed baroque and classical duets with Anne Marie Ene, an eminent violinist with National Symphony Orchestra of Bucharest. Gavin Pacheco (Bass) – is one of the country’s finest and most-versatile bass guitar players. He has been associated with acts like Desi Roots, The Limited Experience, Faridkot, Bandish, Harshdeep Kaur, Swanand Kirkire, and many more. In 2008, Gavin was adjudged the ‘bass player of the year’ at the Jack Daniels National Rock Awards. Varun Rajasekharan (percussions) – a first-year college student at Ramjas College, DU had his first ‘mridangam arangetram’ in 2008 under Kalaimamani Mridanga Selvam A. Premkumar. An ardent student of Carnatic music, he performed at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2010 and, currently works as a session-artist with various musicians.
