The Anupam Roy Band is a LIVE act based out of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata. It is a Bengali pop/rock band that arranges and performs original numbers written and composed by Anupam Roy.
Singer-songwriter Anupam Roy’s first released songs were Amake Amar Moto and Benche Thakar Gaan from the soundtrack of the Bengali film, Autograph, in August 2010. The songs became extremely popular and he started performing LIVE later that year.
After some acoustic gigs, he felt the need of a band, a set of LIVE musicians who would enrich his songwriting and make his songs sound musically complete. His friends in the Kolkata music scene (Savvy, Proshanto, Ayan Chowdhury and Ashrujit) helped him find the right musicians to form the band.
The band started rehearsing and performing since February 2011. By then, Anupam was working full time as a music director in Bengali films and 2011 marked the release of songs like Bariye Dao, Ekbar Bol, and Gobheere Jao. Soon, the band, as a LIVE act, became quite popular.
The band re-interprets Anupam Roy’s songs released in films and albums musically and perform them LIVE. Since 2013, the band got involved in recording their first album, Dwitiyo Purush, as a music producing unit.
Five songs of the album were produced by the band. Anupam’s next album, Bakyobageesh (2014), was entirely produced by the band. Recently, the band has started contributing to Anupam’s film scores too.
As a LIVE act, the band has performed more than 400 gigs in multiple venues across several cities.
