Suraj’s inner self always indicated him to fill the missing gap in his life that made him feel incomplete. A quest, a desire and a passion for following his dream motivated him to write his own feelings and present them in the form of music. This made him a songwriter and composer when he was at the high school. He was sure of his originality and the Expectedity of his own musical thoughts. Being a pure Indian classical soul, Suraj also respected other forms of music in the world and accepted all genres and artists and their tremendous work in their respective fields.
2009 brought an important platform to him as he became an integral part of the LIVE band, Eternal Bliss, presented by SAM Workshops, the fastest growing youth drive in India. Though he had been writing and performing songs since his college days, his involvement with SAM inspired him to compose music focused on social issues. It was not less than a feat as he was fortunate to tap his talent for societal welfare. The band’s hit Haryanvi rock song, ‘Rockini’, launched him into social media stardom.
Suraj kept focusing on his private work as well and recently came up with his single, ‘Ae Watan’, as a dedication to the veterans and martyrs of India army.
Apart from composing and singing songs in multiple genres, Suraj is a highly trained tabla player from an old Delhi Gharana and has worked with some of the established names in Indian classical music. Music was in his blood and his career as a tabla player began at the age of four, from the prestigious stage of Sankat Mochan Sangeet Sammelan, Varanasi, in front of a pure classical listening audience. He acquired the art of tabla playing under the tutelage of his internationally acclaimed father, the legendary artist, Late Pt Subhash Nirwan. Suraj holds a national scholarship in the field of tabla and is also a university topper academically.
