Shujaat Husain Khan is one of the finest classical musicians of his generation. Hailing from Imdad Khan Gharana, his style of playing the sitar is known as the gayaki ang. This style of music is rich in depths and imitates the subtleties that the human voice possesses. Shujaat Khan's musical ancestry extends over seven generations. He is the son and disciple of the great sitarist, Ustad Vilayat Khan. His whole family line has been in the books of recognised classical maestros. Ustad Inayat Khan (his grandfather), Ustad Imdad Khan (his great-grandfather) and Ustad Sahebdad Khan (his great-great-grandfather) were all leading artists of their respective generations. Khan's musical career took off at the age of three when he began practising on a specially made sitar. By the age of six, he was recognised as a child prodigy and began giving live public performances. Shujaat Khan has played at all the prestigious music festivals in India and throughout Asia, North America, Africa, and Europe. He has played at some of the most prime auditoriums like United Nations General Assembly Hall, Carnegie Hall, Paramount Theatre and Royce Hall.
