Sanjeeb Sircar is a professional sitar player based out of New Delhi.
He was an active participant in musical concerts at school where he played the mouth organ, banjo, tabla, violin and drums.
He also played the instruments with the school’s band.
He also learnt how to play the piano, guitar and later sang carols with other singers.
He joined the music faculty of the Benaras Hindu University at Varanasi where he studied about the sitar for one year.
Dr Raj Bhan Singh and Dr KC Gangrade were his instructors. He earned a diploma in music under their guidance. At present, he is being guided by Ustad Shujaat Khan.
In 1978, he travelled to Italy where he played the sitar with instrumentalists who played the guitar, saxophone, flute, piano and tabla.
Later, he became a sangeet prabhakar in sitar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.
He experimented with different forms of music such as fusion, western classical and jazz.
He later became a music teacher at Blue Bells International School.
He traveled to UK and USA to gain more insight about western music.
