Sameer Abhyankar is a professional singer based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. He is one of the talented vocalists of the young generation. As he hails from a family rich in the Indian musical tradition, his natural potential was well nurtured under his late grandfather, Pt SK Abhyankar, a veteran of the old school of Gwalior Gharana. After 15 years of rigorous riyaz and disciplined training, Sameer passed the sangeet alankar under the guidance of Pt Mukund Thatte, and later on, received advanced training and performance skills from Pt Yashwantbua Joshi. Sameer holds a post graduation degree in commerce along with MA (music). Sameer has a firm grasp of the fundamentals of raga music. He has his own unique way of rendering a raga which is further enhanced with a superb command on laykari. He is indeed one of the brightest stars in the world of classical music of the present generation. Sameer Abhyankar was chosen to be the voice of Late Pt DV Paluskar in a documentary film about the legend’s life and music. This is indeed the greatest honour for any classical vocalist.
