Ravi Shankar Mishra is a professional flautist based out of Mysore, Karnataka. Born in 1970, he is one of the finest flute-makers in India. He learnt flute-playing and flute-making from his father, Sri Dinesh Chandra Mishra. His urge to explore the depth of classical music and flute-playing made him seek the mentorship of Pandit Nityanand Haldipur (Maihar gharana) who belongs to the family of legendary flautist, Pt Pannalal Ghosh. His playing style signifies a harmonious blend of gayaki and instrumentality, which are well exemplified in a natural melody. He creatively explores the vastness of melodies without deviating from their grammatical aspects. As he plays flute with efficacy, employing a dexterous fingering technique, Ravi shows a deep involvement and an uncanny feeling for the raag-bhaav approach. Hence, he brings an aesthetical mood to the melody.
