Ipsita Chatterjee is a professional classical dancer from Uttar Pradesh. She has specialised in the Lucknow Gharana of Kathak.
She started learning kathak at a very tender age of five. It has been well more than two decades and she has performed in front of a number of honourable kathak artists of all time.
At a very early age, Ipsita was taken to a local dance school by her mother. Soon, she found that she was more comfortable to classical dance. She devoted herself to dance and took rigorous Talim from different gurus and finally chose kathak to specialise on.
After learning kathak in different cities of West Bengal, she came to Delhi to learn more about the dance form. Now she is an MPhil from the Indira Kala Sangeet Viswavidyalaya, Khairagarh.
She is a well-known kathak dancer, a lecture demonstrator and a teacher who attends numerous kathak workshops throughout the year.
In her long career, Ipsita has received numerous awards and recognitions from some of the most honourable and prestigious classical dance organisations of India. But the most precious part is that she has received a galore of praise and well wishes from her kathak maestros in India.
