Driftwud got a jump start of sorts during the Durga puja 2008, performing for the first time in front of an audience. After sticking for many years and overcoming many obstacles, a lot happened in 2012. Realizing that the end of the world may not be all hogwash and a record must indeed be released for the world to hear, Driftwud did what bands like to do – found a record label that would distribute their album and made a music video of the song, ‘Deko Na’ (currently with over 10000 views and counting) that later became the debut single from the album, receiving major airplay and rave reviews from everyone alike. At last, Driftwud managed to convey their message to the audience through music with Shunno (the first single) being the core philosophy of their existence, describing the times in which they live. A culmination of years of hard work, rejection, belief and sheer perseverance, their album about nothingness for those who enjoy floating aimlessly in an ocean of melody with no direction and letting the waves decide the next destination. What followed next can only be described as a rollercoaster ride for the band, playing few fantastic shows in and around the city of Kolkata.
