Our Milestones

"The first comedy show was performed by Johnny Lever in 1986 called Hope 86 in front of the whole B-Town of Bollywood as filler and was loved by one and all present at the event.
Later, in 2005, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge gained a huge positive response. Since then, the demand for comedians increased ten-fold.
Since 2011, standup comedy started getting its due recognition in India. Many clubs and pubs opened their doors to comedy and since then, comedy has become one of the most entertaining art forms.
Some famous comedians from Mumbai are Kanan Gill, Sunil Grover, Atul Khatri, Karan Talwar, etc.
Let us take a closer look at these comedians

Kanan Gill

He exploded onto the stand-up comedy scene by winning the Punch Line Competition, Bangalore, and later won an open mic competition at The Comedy Store in Bombay. Besides, he has done shows all over India.
Armed with his weirder sense of humor, he always keeps audiences in splits. Kanan is known for his YouTube series and the pretentious movie reviews where he reviews superhit Bollywood films along with fellow standup comedian, Biswa Kalyan Rath.

Sunil Grover

He is most commonly known as Gutthi - A Fictional Character Played By him In Comedy Nights With Kapil, which is aired on Colors TV.
In the starting, he was acting in a local theatre and later started his career with Jaspal Bhatti.
He was also the brand ambassador for the channel 'Filmy' for a while.

Atul Khatri

Earlier, Atul was a good businessman but perhaps his destiny had planned something else for him. It took a lot of years for him to realize that he wants something else from his life. He left the business and started doing English standup comedy to fulfill his own bucket list.
Talking about his education, he was a bright student. He was a computer engineer and also a scholar in British Management, but after a point of time, he chose to entertain audiences through his wit and sense of humor. Atul also participated in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and was at the third number in it.

Karan Talwar

Karan Talwar spent a decade in the US to gain work experience. When he returned to Mumbai in 2009, he founded Schitz En Giggles Comedy – Mumbai’s premier local standup platform.
Karan has performed many shows, both, in Mumbai and Pune so far.
