Born in a jat family, Prateek started learning to play the guitar at an early age of sixteen and started to write songs in his late teens. He moved to New York University where he studied maths and economics. Before migrating he finished his schooling from Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Vidyalaya in his hometown Jaipur, Rajasthan. After completing his education at New York University he finally moved back to India to follow his passion and pursue his career in the field of music.
Prateek Kuhad has successfully established himself as a singer and songwriter as well. He officially started his career in the music industry in the year 2011 and with the year 2015, he gained international recognition and appreciation as well.
Raat Raazi, In Token and Charms, In token & Charms Deluxe Edition and Cold Mess are Kuhad’s EPs and albums. In 2016 he wrote the song “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’’ for the movie “Baar Baar Dekho”. He was also the singer for this song accompanied by Jasleen Royal who was also the composer of the song. After that, in the year 2018, he did two Bollywood songs “Saansein’’ and “Kadam” for the movie “Karwan”.

- Top Indian Indie Hits, the Best India Act at the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards.
- In 2016 he stood at the first position in International Songwriting Competition.
On 30 December, following the ritual without a fail, the former president Barak Obama posted the picture of the list of songs he liked the most in 2019. While sharing the list he also mentioned the name of the artists/singers of the song/album. With the picture, he wrote that “from Hip Hop to Country to The Boss, here are her songs of the year. If you are looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there is a track or two that does the trick”.
And within seconds, the retweets broke out. The list included artists like Beyonce and Bruce Springsteen. And to everybody’s surprise, there was Prateek Kuhad’s name as well. His album Cold/Mess made its place on the list. Which was not even expected by Prateek himself? He shared Obama’s list on twitter, with the picture he wrote “this just happened and I don’t think I’ll sleep tonight. Totally flipping out. I have no idea how cold-mess even reached him but thank you @barackobama, thank you universe I didn’t think 2019 could’ve gotten better, but damn I was wrong. What an honor.”
With these tweets, the news of cold/mess being in Obama’s list spread like wildfire. Many stars like Rajkumar Rao tweeted to congratulate Prateek, his tweet was “This is so cool man, congratulations buddy”. Jim Surbh who was also starred tweeted saying “credit where credit is due @prateekkuhad and also… perhaps … @gai_dar @zyhssn.
